An Energy Management Company for You
A good energy management company is an ace up the sleeve of any forward-thinking business. In a recent article run by The News, analysts cite a report from Pike Research that predicts the global spend on building energy management systems to hit $319 million by the year 2020. That is a near 700% increase over the spend in 2012.
Imagine the amount of energy required to run a typical office building full of computer towers, monitors, copy machines, fax machines, telephones, maybe even dedicated servers. Electricity and heating. Air conditioning. Microwaves, refrigerators, candy and soda machines, and televisions in the break room. Industry averages for annual energy spend are estimated at $3.00 to $4.00 per square foot.
Now consider a manufacturing plant, adding to all of the above the cost of sometimes running twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week, and how much energy it takes to run a small army of molding machines, passivation facilities, auto assembly lines . . . all of these functions require immense amounts of energy, and in the case of industrial facilities, operations account for 30% of all greenhouse gas emissions in the U.S.
And what about hotels, where rooms can go unoccupied for days at a time yet continue to be heated or cooled? EnergyStar reports estimate that property owners and managers spend $2,196 annually, per room, regardless of whether or not they are occupied.
